We're frequently testing polymer samples in a TO temperature chamber at temps up to 275°C. The lubricant on our HW20 grips degraded immediately and the grips bind making tightening and untightening grips extremely difficult, we suffer with slippage issues.

 Can you recommend a lubricant suitable for use on the grip threads to cover the entire temperature range of the environmental chamber (we also use an N2 dewar to get us down to around -50C).

Alternatively, should we be using a different type of grip for this type of work?

Sample types tested - ISO 527 type 1A and 1BA, ASTM D638 type I and V

Thanks for the question.   Our specified range of use for thos grips is up to 232C, which is the max temp for the lubricant that we use which is “Super Lube” www.super-lube.com.  The lower limit is -40C.  Unfortunately, outside of this range we do not have a specified lube and if we did it would be outside of warranty conditions.  However, if you want to try it you might try one of the Copper-Slip type anti-seize compounds.
