Answer

Hello Harry,

We was sold a Tinus Olsen H10KT back in 2008. At the time we was new to plastic testing but our goal was clear that we wished to carry out testing on plastics for FEA analysis. Now we have requirements to carry out relaxation tests and also need properties such as Poissons ratio and longer term tests such as creep, can our machine do this?

Have I been sold the wrong machine?

Regards

 Martin

Hi Martin:

Thanks for your question.  A 10K-T is usually sufficient for most plastics testing.  You may have to purchase accessories to allow you to conduct tests but I don't know what was suppled with your machine.  You can give me a call to discuss or we can have your salesman call you to discuss your applications.  As for creep testing, we don't usually have customers use the UTM for long term testing just because it ties up the machine.  Let me know what spec you are trying to meet and I can give you some options.  Thanks again.

Harry
