New Hydrotracer from Tinius OlsenTinius Olsen proudly introduces a new moisture analyzer, the Hydrotracer, to the Americas market. This new analyzer is designed as a low cost alternative to existing equipment by using a chemical analysis rather than a heat and weight loss or microwave techniques. The key here is that our new system does not require any special chemical waste disposal, using small amounts of environmentally safe reagent to give repeatably accurate results.

The principle of operation is simple - the sample is heated to a pre-determined temperature such that any water in the sample evaporates. All the water vapor reacts with the calcium hydride reagent to release hydrogen; sensors measure the concentration of hydrogen, which is directly proportional to the moisture content of the reactor chamber.

Comparable in accuracy and repeatability to more familar techniques, the Hydrotracer has a relative measuring range of 0.0005% to 5% moisture content and requires no special disposal of the final calcium hydroxide salt. The Hydrotracer is a perfect with Tinius Olsen's product line of testing equipment specifically designed for polymers, which includes equipment to measure melt index, impact strength (Charpy and Izod), stiffness, deflection temperature under load and Vicat penetration, tensile strength, tear strength, peel strength, compression set, puncture or burst strength, and many more.
