A tension and compression testing machine, irrespective of capacity, is a significant investment. Whether it is used for QC\QA monitoring, R&D investigations, or as an aid to material’s performance education, it is invariably an investment that is required to last. We have found that in a surprisingly short time the original testing requirements evolve into new territory; reasons for this evolution could be a material / process / component change, or an update to an international testing standards e.g. ASTM, ISO, EN, JIS, IN, GB, GOST , or simply the consequence of “why don’t we try testing this….” which then takes over. This does not necessarily mean the original testing machine investment is at an end, on the contrary, we have found that by simply adding some basic accessories the original investment can continue to reap a return. Accessories, such as extensometers, test specimen griping solutions, temperature chambers and furnaces can all be added to existing testing systems to ensure it keeps pace with the evolution in changing testing needs.
